McCain to be in Waukesha, Mosinee on Thursday

.
MADISON (AP) — Republican Sen. John McCain will make two stops Thursday in traditionally Republican parts of Wisconsin.

McCain and his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, will start their day with a town hall meeting in Waukesha. It is their second stop in a Milwaukee suburb, following a visit to Cedarburg last month.
The pair also held a joint rally in Green Bay.

Palin plans to leave for Ohio after the Waukesha stop, but McCain will stay in Wisconsin and travel to Mosinee where an afternoon rally is planned at the Central Wisconsin Airport.

Both parts areas are Republican strongholds where McCain will have to do well to defeat Democrat Barack Obama and win Wisconsin’s electoral votes.

President Bush carried Marathon County, where Mosinee is located, in 2004 with 53 percent of the vote. He dominated Democrat John Kerry in Waukesha County that year, carrying 67 percent of the vote.

Thursday’s visit marks the first time McCain or Palin has visited Wisconsin since Sept. 19. Since then, Obama has been in Wisconsin twice and his running mate Joe Biden has been here once.

The two most recent polls, released last month, showed Obama with a 6-point and 7-point lead in the state.

Tickets are required for both McCain events and can be obtained from the state Republican Party.
