Chad M. Smith, 20, of Davenport, Iowa, was charged in Monroe County Circuit Court with burglary, criminal damage to property and misdemeanor theft.
Smith is accused of breaking into Citizens’ First Bank, 124 N. Court St., just after 1 a.m.
Sept. 20 and stealing several rolls of coins, mainly quarters.
Sparta Police Chief Mike Kass said calls to the Crime Stoppers tip line led investigators to Smith, who was arrested in Iowa and extradited back to Wisconsin.
During a court hearing Thursday afternoon, Monroe County Circuit Judge Michael McAlpine ordered Smith held on a $5,000 cash bond.
