The La Crosse Center is preparing to be the site for the kind of day that rarely hits a city of this size. As we all know, this certainly isn’t Podunk, and there is never a lack of things to do, but single days like today don’t come around too often.

It starts with an appearance by Sen. John McCain, who will address the locals at 10 a.m. in the Center’s South Hall. It finishes with an appearance by the NBA (although only in preseason form) as the Milwaukee Bucks play the Dallas Mavericks at 7:30 p.m.
Seeing, in person, the man who could be the next president of the United States, and catching a game played between some of the best athletes in the world isn’t a bad way to spend a day in downtown La Crosse.
