HASTINGS, Minn. (AP) — Authorities say they’ve arrested four men accused of severely beating a mentally disabled man on two occasions last weekend.

The four men from Northfield are being held in the Dakota County Jail in Hastings pending formal charges, which are expected to be false imprisonment and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.
Officials with the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office called the crime “savage.” They say the 24-year-old victim had to be hospitalized after he was kicked, struck with pieces of wood and burned by lighters.

The Dakota County Attorney’s Office is expected to file charges soon.

Chief Deputy Dave Bellows says the victim was lured from his home in Lakeville on Friday and taken to Waterford Township where the suspects severely beat him. Bellows says he was dropped off at home only to be lured to the same area again on Saturday.
