Which presidential or vice presidential candidate is most likely to drink a beer?
Which president built extensive wine cellars underneath the White House?
For answers to those questions and more, check the White House Wine Quiz at www.wineteasers.com/whitehouse. It reveals drinking habits of current candidates and past presidents, as well as other White House wine-related lore.
“We wanted to create something relevant to our nation’s current political experience and keep it light-hearted and nonpartisan,” said Stefan Smith of
La Crosse, president of Fine Wine Games Inc., publisher of the quiz. His business publishes educational card games and online materials related to wine. Its flagship product is the Cork Jester’s Wine Teasers card game.

“If you’re sad, and like beer, I’m your lady,” says Isabella Rossellini in “The Saddest Music in the World” (2004). If you have a black sense of humor and like your films surreal and somewhat disturbing, this DVD is for you.
Rossellini, almost unrecognizable in a platinum-blond wig, is fabulous as a bitter, legless beer baroness living in Depression-era Winnipeg, Canada, who stages an international contest to find the saddest tune — and increase beer consumption. Maria de Medeiros is luminous as an amnesiac nymphomaniac. Entangled with both women and competing for the cash prize are the baroness’ sleazy-happy former lover (Mark McKinney), his over-the-top grief-stricken brother (Ross McMillan) and their alcoholic, proud Canadian father (David Fox.)
Directed by Guy Maddin, this quasi-musical is bizarre for sure (one friend who also watched it called it “zany”) but visually interesting, as some of the scenes were shot using a Vaseline-smeared lens.

Gmail’s Labs offerings now include a serious boon to anyone who ends up writing “Received the document, thanks!” or the like over and over again. Head to the Labs section in Settings and enable Canned Responses and you’ll see a new drop-down menu on your toolbar. It’s blank at first, so write a typical reply, then click Canned Responses to save your reply text and give it a name. Better still, you can now filter certain messages to get automatic replies with canned text.
