Margaret Meg’ L. Harter
Margaret “Meg” L. Harter, 59, of La Crosse passed away Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at St. Joseph’s Rehab Center in La Crosse.
She was born Oct. 26, 1948, in Louisville, Ky., to Harry and Marie (Swords) Schmidt.
Survivors include her husband, Bill; four children, Jessica (Andy) D’Ambrosia and their children, Denver and Isabella, all of La Crosse, Amanda (Shawn) Stenberg and their son, Alex, all of Whitehall, Josh Harter of Eleva, Wis., and Erica (Devon) Hubbell and their children, Cassie and Jacob, all of Blair; one sister, Mary (Dondi) Kilbourne of Birmingham, Ala.; one brother, Charles Schmidt of La Crosse; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
In accordance with Meg’s wishes, her body will be cremated and there will be a private gathering at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Donald D. Calhoun
ONALASKA Donald D. Calhoun, 80, of Onalaska was born into eternal life on Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse.
He was born Aug. 8, 1928, to Clyde and Hazel (Gillen) Calhoun in Ontario on the family farm. He was united in marriage to Doris Carr on June 14, 1952, in Valley, Wis.
He was a member of the U.S. Army, proudly serving his country during post-World War II in the occupational forces stationed in Japan. He was a member of American Legion Post 336 of Onalaska and a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. He was employed at Dairyland Power in the accounting department for over 50 years. Donald enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and boating on the Mississippi River. He enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s sporting events and spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doris; a son, Greg (Brenda) Calhoun of Waukesha, Wis.; two grandchildren, Amy and Kyle Calhoun, both of Waukesha; a brother, William (Deloris) of Janesville, Wis.; a sister, Jeanette Berg of Wilton; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Calhoun of Black River Falls; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wayne; and a brother-in-law, Donald Berg.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at Onalaska United Methodist Church, 212 4th Ave. N., Onalaska. The Rev. Jenny Arneson will officiate. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Hilltop Rest Cemetery in Ontario. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Dickinson Funeral Home, 401 Main St., Onalaska, and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of services. A Masonic Service will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday.
The family requests memorials be given in Donald’s memory to Onalaska United Methodist Church and the Hospice Unit at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center.

Marion I. Janzen
CASHTON Marion I. Janzen, 84, Cashton passed away Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at her home in Cashton.
Marion was born in the town of Leon, Wis., on June 2, 1924, to Ellis and Gertrude (Schmitz) Hohn. On June 12, 1948, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Arthur Janzen at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sparta. Together, they farmed outside of Cashton until 1952. Arthur started driving truck and Marion worked as a scale operator for Kramer Construction. She knew what hard work was. As well as farming and trucking, she worked in a tobacco warehouse.
Marion is survived by her husband of 60 years, Arthur; a sister, Loretta Miller of Sparta; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marion was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ellis “Bud” Hohn; and sisters, Zora Schaitel, Beverly Leis and an infant sister, Dorothy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cashton. Father K. Amalados will officiate. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Wednesday, Oct. 29, from 5 to 7 p.m., with a rosary being led at 7 p.m. at Torkelson Funeral Home in Cashton. Visitation will also be held from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
