Elk farmer guilty in federal court

.
ROCKFORD, Ill. — A Texas man has pleaded guilty in federal court to illegally moving elk between Wisconsin and Illinois.

Federal officials say 55-year-old Robert Johnson moved elk from a farm he owned near Gays Mills to Ogle County, Illinois, in 2005 without testing them for diseases including chronic wasting disease.
Johnson faces up to five years in prison and $250,000 in fines when he’s sentenced in February.

Wisconsin prosecutors accused Johnson of introducing wild pigs to Crawford County earlier this year, but a judge found him not guilty in October.

" Amen, Bill! And why charge him for disorderly conduct...the guy is the biggest drug dealer around and every knows it but the cops ...go after the real thing! "

" Let's talk about Tribune blog discrimination. Michael Ablan is an accused criminal in a Tribune article just like every other criminal that the Tribune post articles on everyday. Those criminals take their lumps on the blogs, but Michael Ablan’s article does not accept posts yesterday or today. If you are every in the Tribune and take a bashing, sue the Tribune for clear this clear discrimination. They are setting themselves up for a huge discrimination lawsuit. Posting on articles should be across the board and not selective! The Tribune better talk to their company attorney or get ready open your checkbook. "

" It's not really a joke. It was these antler farmers who most likely are responsible for the introduction of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) into the Wisconsin deer heard, an act which has cost the state both money and the potential loss of of a healthy sustainable meat source. That's why there are laws about moving these animals around. This has affected many hunters and this guy should get the max. And the previous case doesn't mean he wasn't guilty of the alleged pig release, either, it just means the state couldn't prove it. "

" Lost their big case so this is the best they can do. Read todays courts: steal $140k or stab someone 3 times and get probation. Move elk a few 100 miles and threatened with 5 years in federal prison. What a joke. "
