Document: Doug Sidie confessed to ex’s murder; records show past abuse

.
BLACK RIVER FALLS —Douglas Sidie confessed to shooting his ex-wife outside their home and dumping her body in a remote area of northeastern Jackson County, according to court documents.

He is expected to be charged with first-degree intentional homicide, concealing a corpse and obstructing officers in the Nov. 7 death of Alisha Sidie, 27, but a Jackson County Circuit Court date has not been set.
Douglas Sidie, 39, reported his ex-wife missing about 6 p.m. Nov. 8, telling authorities she had walked out of the Hatfield home they still shared with their 2-year-old twin sons about 9 p.m. Nov. 7 during an argument.

He told investigators late Saturday the couple — who were divorced but reportedly reconciling —argued in the garage Nov. 7.

When Alisha Sidie walked outside, he put a handgun in his waistband, confronted her on the sidewalk and shot her once, according to the probable cause statement.

Douglas Sidie then took the body in his pickup truck to a wooded area east of Waterbury Road in the town of Komensky, according to the statement.

That area was not part of the intensive six-day search last week for Alisha Sidie.

It wasn’t until about 8 p.m. Saturday that Douglas Sidie led investigators to the area near the body. A Jackson County sheriff’s bloodhound then led them to the remains.

He is held in the Jackson County Jail without bond.

Douglas Sidie had attacked Alicia Sidie at least once before, according to court records.

They were camping at Wazee Lake on June 4, 2005, when she left for her mother’s house, only to be called back by friends who said her then-fiance had become drunk and obnoxious, according to the complaint filed in Jackson County Circuit Court.

After taking him home, Alisha Sidie threw the keys out the window to prevent him from driving drunk, the complaint reported. Douglas Sidie then pushed her to the ground and kicked her in the head.

The original charge of misdemeanor domestic abuse battery later was reduced to a disorderly conduct citation, to which Douglas Sidie pleaded no contest Jan. 16, 2006. A domestic abuse disorderly conduct charge was dismissed.

He also pleaded no contest in April 1997 in Dane County to a battery charge for punching a man who had grabbed his then-girlfriend at a bar, according to the criminal complaint.

" You judges that turned this guy loose two dozen times....That young ladies blood is on your hands now. Sleep well tonight. Guess it's ok as long as it wasn't your daughter. "

" This truly hits close to home for me. That could be my sister's name in the headlines. At the end of the day the abused person has to leave the situation. If they stay nothing will change even if domestic abusers are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I hope this opens the eyes of at least one person that is abused. THEY WILL NEVER CHANGE! "

" to 'Conscience?' I'd like to suggest you and everyone else ponder why Doug Sidie had his charges plead down in 2005 when he didn't even have a defense attorney for that case! Why exactly would anyone offer a plea to someone who is choosing not to use a lawyer? Seems to me this tragedy could have been prevented if they worked harder to prosecute domestic violence perpetrators. Now Alisha's dead!! "

" Grape-
My sister has been married to the same POS for 8 years. He hits her. She leaves. She comes back. He hits her. She leaves. She comes back. It happens over and over again. So yes, I speak from experience.
This was not the first time this POS hit the deceased. He hit her BEFORE they were married and she still married him. I don't understand it. I'd be willing to guess her family doesn't understand why she stayed either. "

" to conscience?
What a victim blaming statement! What should be said is "I will never understand why a man would hit a woman". If you had ever been is a situation like that perhaps you could be more compassionate toward victims of domestic violence. (and no, I am not speaking from experience) "

" My heart goes out to those little boys. I hope someone in her family gets to raise them. Now is when I wish Wisconsin still had the electric chair, he doesn't deserve to live. Why should we have to pay to feed and clothe him, pay his medical bills etc. Life in prison is tooo good for him!!!!!!! "

" I hope this guy doesn't get a break because he eventually confessed. What a sad story - my heart goes out the family and children. "

" I will never understand why women stay with me that hit them. She looked like a beautiful and happy woman. She could have surely found a man that wouldn't put his hands on her. At least he won't be in his children's lives to teach them abuse is OK. My thoughts are with the family. "

" Pretty sad situation for everyone. this guys past behavior seemed to all involve ALCOHOL too. On TV it showed the homestead with a recently shot deer hanging, this could have contaminated DNA in the back of the truck and sidewalk if he washed it down. Just Assuming. He might have even used the spot he shot the deer and dragged it out at to hide the corpse and throw off the dog. It to bad for the kids, very sad story. "

" Those poor kids went from having mommy and daddy one minute to mommys dead and daddys in prison the rest of his life. I pray the family takes good care of those boys whose lives completely changed in an instant. "

" I knew this guy in the late 90's thru my job in the area. He had another son, probably about 10 now. Dont know if he's been involved in his life or not. My prayers are also with the family and friends. A case of domestic violence pleaded down in court to have more horific ending two years later. "

Family4 wrote on Nov 18, 2008 8:55 AM:

" My question is where were the kids while he killed their mother. And were they home alone when he drove off with her to dump the body. My heart goes out to these poor little boys who lives are now changed forever. "

" This is a sad ending to a story that looked to be doomed from the begining. It is really too bad, I don't know if there is any true way to bring this murderer to true justice. I hope that he is give 100 life sentences and gets a cell with a crew of true ruthless hardened criminals that show him no mercy nor an ounce or respect. He not only took the life of one he has also abandened his own children who will never grow up with their true parents. It is just plain sad...:( "

" I'm not anti law enforcement, but come on, when there is a missing person linked to a guy with this large of a "rap" sheet, he has to be the #1 suspect. The news showed a bloodhound on tv, why couldn't that dog find a trail if she was shot on the sidewalk and/or put in the pick up truck. There had to be a large amount of blood and/or body fragments. I know CSI on tv is probably over blown, but it seems that it should have been easier to point directly at the guy. "

sportsmom wrote on Nov 18, 2008 7:57 AM:

" I wonder the same thing....There had to have been blood somewhere????? Do they live next to people...didn't someone hear the shot???? GOD BLESS THIS FAMILY THROUGH THIS HORRIBLE TIME IN THEIR LIFE!!!!!! "

Mack wrote on Nov 18, 2008 7:38 AM:

" They couldn't find any blood outside the trailer or in the pickup bed? With this guy's past behavior? "
