BANGOR - Evelyn D. Becker, 92, of Bangor died Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.

She was born Aug. 7, 1917, in Rockland to David and Elvie (Olson) Jones. She grew up in Rockland and graduated from Sparta High School.

She married Carl Becker on Aug. 7, 1940. After marriage they lived on the family farm in the town of Burns, La Crosse County. They farmed from 1940 until 1974.

Evelyn worked at the Mulder Healthcare Center in West Salem from 1974 until 1984.

She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bangor and a member of the Ladies Aid.

She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, gardening and wintering in Arizona. She taught sewing as a 4-H leader.

She is survived by her three children, Karen (Ron) Gilbertson of La Crosse, Carl (Pamela) Becker of Sparta and Robert Becker of La Crosse; three grandchildren, Rhonda (Bill) Mosher, Sandra (Mike) Thorson and Curtis ( Tami Hemmersbach) Becker; four great-grandchildren, Ryan Mosher, Lindsay Mosher, Jeremy Thorson and Brandon Thorson; and a sister, Vivian Austin of Sparta.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl, on May 19, 2007; and her brother, John.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bangor, with the Rev. Roy Hefti officiating. Burial will be in Burns Cemetery, rural Bangor. Family and friends are invited to call at the church Thursday from 9 a.m. until time of services.
