Moon Goon women's fashions will open Thursday in Powell Place at 200 Main St., as an extension of the Lillians of La Crosse shop that opened in 2006 in a nearby space in the same downtown mini-mall.

Lillians sells trendy bags, jewelry, wallets, watches, belts, hair gear, sunglasses and other accessories, said Nancy Stouffer of Dallas. She and her sister, Barbara Davis of Onalaska, grew up in West Salem and own the local Lillians shop as well as the new shop.

Moon Goon offers hip and stylish clothing with a sprinkling of accessories, Stouffer said. That includes such things as sweaters, T-shirts, jackets, dresses, leggings, coats and knit scarves.

Moon Goon will celebrate its grand opening Thursday through Sunday with the same hours as Lillians - 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. For more information, go to www.lilliansshoppe.com/lacrosse.

Local artist Richard Bloss opened the Bloss Gallery on Saturday at 1912 George St., across from Blue Ribbon Dry Cleaning & Laundry on La Crosse's North Side.

Bloss, who lives in Onalaska, said his gallery displays and sells his own paintings. He might eventually also sell other artists' works on consignment.

"I paint just about anything," said Bloss, 72, who has been painting off and on for all of his life. "Seascapes, landscapes, animals, birds, you name it." He was born and raised in La Crosse, and owned and operated restaurants while living in Kansas. He moved back to the area seven years ago.

Bloss Gallery's hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The gallery's telephone number is (608) 782-3110.

Robert D. Baures of Trempealeau and Mike Kulas of Brice Prairie plan to open a pub and eatery in the former Your Prairie Store grocery store location at N5914 Hwy. ZZ in Brice Prairie, Baures told the Town of Onalaska Board last week.

Baures said he and Kulas hope to have the new business open by Jan. 4. The board will consider granting it a liquor license.

Baures said he owned a bar and liquor store in Buffalo County for 18 years and sold the operation about two years ago.
