Franciscan Skemp vaccine clinics for H1N1 and seasonal flu

La Crosse hospital: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday to Dec. 4, former emergency room.

Onalaska clinic: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 5 and 12, first-floor pediatrics department.

Who qualifies?: Everyone for the seasonal flu shot. For H1N1 vaccine, healthy people through age 24 and high-risk groups, including pregnant women; people who live with or provide care for infants younger than 6 months; children 6 months to age 4; children, teens and adults through age 64 who have chronic medical conditions; obese people; and health care personnel.

Both La Crosse medical centers have received large shipments of seasonal flu vaccine and will begin vaccinating anyone who wants it, officials said Wednesday.

Franciscan Skemp patients can start getting the seasonal flu vaccine Friday by appointment with their physician. Public clinics for both the seasonal flu and H1N1 vaccines will start next week.

Gundersen Luth-eran on Friday will announce next week's schedule of seasonal flu vaccine clinics.

The La Crosse County Health Department will set up public clinics as soon as seasonal flu vaccine arrives, said Doug Mormann, department director.

The seasonal flu vaccine is available to anyone, but restrictions still apply to the H1N1 vaccine. Health officials this week expanded the group that can receive H1N1 vaccine to include all school-aged children and young adults up to age 24.
