La Crosse police are searching for two men who attempted to rob a North Side tavern minutes after bomb scares were reported in downtown La Crosse.
A call to the La Crosse County Emergency Dispatch Center at 12:36 a.m. today reported bombs at the Arena Sports Bar, 107 S. Third St., and Brothers Bar, 308 Pearl St. Both locations were searched, but nothing was found.
Two men wearing ski masks entered Ike's Jabber Jaws bar, 433 Avon St., nine minutes later. One suspect showed a handgun, demanded cash and ordered patrons to the floor. The bartended believed the armed robbery was a joke and did not say anything as the suspects fled out the door, according to police.
The men returned about 20 seconds later and again demanded cash. The bartender denied their request and the suspects fled the business.
The first suspect is described as a black man about 18 to 25 years old, about 5-feet 8-inches tall weighing about 120 to 140 pounds. He was wearing dark pants, a black ski mask and black jacket.
The second man is described as about 18 to 25 years old, 5-feet 6-inches to 5-feet 8-inches and thing wearing dark pants, a black ski mask and a black jacket with white lettering or a design on the top half of the jacket.
