A La Crosse native has won his second Midwest regional Emmy Award for television reporting.
Sam Sorenson, assistant news director at WMTV-TV in Madison, was honored for his story “Power to Forgive” about a Madison woman who was shot in the head by two teens, survived, forgave the two and now regularly visits them in prison.
Sorenson, who has been nominated for 13 Emmys, won the regional reporting award in 2004 for his story about the 229th Engineer Company, based out of Platteville and Prairie du Chien, in Iraq.
A 1996 Logan High School graduate, Sorenson attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and worked as a cameraman for WXOW-TV from 1996 to 2001 before moving to Madison.
