Bryan A. Olson: Public health insurance option isn't threatening

At some point in our nation's history, some enlightened leaders determined that learning was such an important priority that a public option for education was mandated. The logic was, and continues to be, that society as a whole would benefit, as well as the individual, if a greater percentage of the population was educated. Personally, as a product of the public school system, I think it was a wise choice.

A public option for health care is no more scary a concept than is a public option for education. A more educated population is better for all of us. A healthier population is better for all of us.

If you were educated in a public school system and are against a public option for health care, then you are living in a state of contradiction. I certainly hope that our

current leaders have the courage to disallow fear from ruling the day.
