MILWAUKEE - A Milwaukee woman has pleaded guilty to allowing her 7-week-old son to starve to death.

Vera Morehouse pleaded guilty Wednesday to neglecting a child, resulting in death. The felony charge is punishable by up to 25 years in prison, and the prosecutor said he will seek a substantial sentence.

Authorities said the youngest of 22-year-old Morehouse's five children died in July 2008 while strapped in a car seat in his mother's bedroom. An autopsy found he died of starvation.

She will be sentenced on January 21 by Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Kevin Martens.
