MENOMONIE, Wis. - Students in three majors at the University of Wisconsin-Stout will have the option of finishing their degrees in three years instead of the typical four.

Chancellor Charles Sorensen says the move gives students the chance to enter the work force faster.

The three majors are psychology, business administration and hotel, restaurant and tourism. They're among the largest programs on campus.

The program starts next year. Students who choose the option will get priority when registering for classes, and will have to meet the same admission and graduation requirements.

The school says tuition is based on the number of credits, so it won't change under the three-year plan. But students will save a year's worth of living expenses and start earning a salary faster.
